Vietnam: Rubber exports surge 42% in six months Vietnam has exported 412,000 tonnes of rubber in the first six months of this year earning US $1.3 billion, a year-on-year increase of 42.5% in volume, announced the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development.
However, the export value was down by 0.3% due to the drop in price on the world market. Despite this factor, domestic exporters have achieved positive results by expanding their markets. Rubber exports to several markets rose strongly against the same period last year. Vietnam Customs reports that rubber exports to China were up 31% and those to Maylaysia rose more than 300%, while exports of the product to India surged a massive 650%.
Vietnam exports rubber to 80 countries, accounting for 10% of the world’s volume, and has become the fourth largest exporter of rubber in the world. Total hits:
