Excitement and Drama with Pickleball at the 2026 Vinachem Sports Festival
At the gymnasium of Vietnam Apatit Limited Liability Company, the Pickleball event within the framework of the 2026 Workers’ Sports Festival of the Vietnam National Chemical Group (Vinachem) for the Northern Region took place with many thrilling matches, attracting the attention of participating athlete delegations and workers.
Over two days of competition, men's doubles, women's doubles, mixed doubles, and family teams continuously competed on the courts. The sound of the ball, cheering, and intense point-for-point exchanges created a lively atmosphere in the gymnasium.
Although many athletes have only been introduced to Pickleball in recent years, the technical quality of the matches was quite even. Many pairs demonstrated good coordination, flexible situational handling, and maintained a steady pace throughout their matches.
Several rallies lasted long enough to keep spectators on the edge of their seats. Dink shots near the net were used to force opponents into technical exchanges. When the opportunity arose, players quickly shifted with strong, low drives to create pressure. Many points were decided by fast volleys near the net.
In evenly matched games, lobs over the opponent’s head became an effective solution to break deadlocks. When a gap appeared, athletes didn’t miss the chance to unleash decisive smashes to finish the rally. Some Erne shots—attacks from outside the non-volley zone—also appeared, bringing surprises and applause from the audience.
According to the Organizing Committee, Pickleball was one of the events with the highest athlete participation this year. Many units have maintained regular training, thereby improving technical standards and building a pool of athletes for the Group’s tournaments.
Beyond sports, the matches provided opportunities for employees from different units to meet, network, and share work and life experiences. After each match, images of athletes shaking hands and encouraging each other highlighted the spirit of solidarity and exchange that the festival aims for.
After two days of competition, the Organizing Committee presented awards to athletes with outstanding achievements in each event.
