After two exciting days of competition, on the morning of 12 July at the Can Tho City Multi-Purpose Sports Arena, the Vietnam Chemical Industry Trade Union held the closing ceremony of the 2026 Employee Sports Festival for the Southern region of the Vietnam National Chemical Group, bringing a safe, well-organised event to a close.

The closing ceremony was attended by: Mr. Nguyễn Văn Quý, Standing Deputy Secretary of the Group Party Committee; Mr. Hoàng Mạnh Thắng, Member of the Members’ Council; Mr. Nguyễn Văn Luyện, Deputy General Director; leaders of the Vietnam Chemical Industry Trade Union; representatives from the Group’s functional departments; and leaders of member units from the Southern region.

This year’s sports festival brought together nearly 400 athletes from 12 Southern units, competing in five events: football, soft volleyball, pickleball, badminton, and table tennis. Over two days of play, the athletes delivered many thrilling matches, demonstrating solidarity, honesty, and determination.

Matches ran continuously from the qualifiers to the finals, with high technical standards. Many events saw fierce competition as teams chased the score, producing beautiful rallies and dramatic contests. While striving for top results, athletes consistently respected their opponents, strictly followed the rules and referees' decisions, and presented an exemplary image of the chemical industry workforce.

The lively atmosphere in the stands added to the excitement. Large numbers of supporters from various units cheered enthusiastically and in good spirit, providing extra motivation for the athletes in every match.

In his speech at the closing ceremony, Mr. Nguyễn Huy Thông – President of the Vietnam Chemical Industry Trade Union and Head of the Sports Festival Organising Committee – commended the athletes’ passionate and honest competition; praised the impartial officiating by the referees; and thanked all units for their cooperation in organising a safe and orderly event.

Mr. Nguyễn Huy Thông noted that the sports festival not only offers a platform for staff and workers to improve their health, but also serves as an occasion for units to meet, interact, and strengthen bonds. Such activities help maintain the sporting movement and foster a spirit of emulation throughout the Group.

On behalf of the Organising Committee, Mr. Nguyễn Huy Thông expressed sincere thanks to LIX Detergent JSC – the festival host – and Can Tho Fertilizer and Chemicals JSC – the local host – for their thorough preparation of facilities, competition conditions, and support staff; and for their close coordination with the Organising Committee throughout the festival.

He also thanked all participating units, athlete teams, supporters, and every collective and individual who contributed to the success of the festival.

He expressed hope that units will continue to promote physical activity and sport among staff and workers, and looked forward to seeing everyone at future editions of the Vinachem Employee Sports Festival.

At the closing ceremony, the Organising Committee presented first, second, and third prizes to collectives and individuals with outstanding results in each sport and event, as well as overall awards to units excelling at the festival.
Immediately after the awards and closing ceremony, the athlete teams bid farewell to Can Tho City, concluding two lively days of competition. The beautiful matches, honest sportsmanship, and camaraderie among the units will be lasting memories of the 2026 Vinachem Employee Sports Festival – Southern Region, further fuelling a spirit of emulation among employees across the Group.
