On the afternoon of May 5, 2026, at the headquarters of Vietnam National Chemical Group (Vinachem), a working session was held between Vinachem and the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, with the participation of leaders from both organizations and representatives from many Vietnamese diplomatic missions abroad. This practical activity aims to concretize the direction of strengthening cooperation between state-owned enterprises and the diplomatic system in promoting external economic development.

The program was co-chaired by Mr. Phùng Quang Hiệp – Party Secretary, Chairman of the Members' Council of Vinachem, and Ms. Nguyễn Minh Hằng – Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs. Attendees included Vinachem's leadership, representatives of specialized departments, and many leading member units in fertilizer, basic chemicals, rubber, batteries, detergents, and more, along with 20 Vietnamese Ambassadors to key countries and regions worldwide.

Positioning Diplomacy in the Chemical Industry’s Development Strategy

At the session, Vinachem’s leadership presented an overview of the development strategy for the 2026–2030 period, emphasizing the goal of building Vinachem into a strong economic group, playing an important role in the industrial supply chain, while boosting exports and participating more deeply in the global value chain.

According to the Chairman’s remarks, in the context of increasingly fierce international competition and higher environmental and technical standards, economic diplomacy has become not just supportive but a decisive factor in business efficiency and investment development.

The experience from 2021–2025 shows that, through diplomatic and international cooperation channels, Vinachem has maintained stable input supplies, expanded export markets, and gradually enhanced its international standing. The Group’s products are now present in over 70 countries and territories, with annual export revenues exceeding USD 700 million.

Expanding Multidimensional Cooperation: From Markets to Technology

Based on its new development orientation, Vinachem identifies international cooperation expansion as a key pillar, focusing on core areas such as export market development, securing strategic raw materials, accessing modern technology, and promoting green transformation.

At the session, Vinachem proposed that the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Vietnam’s overseas missions provide support in five key areas.

First, support in trade connections and market expansion for core products like fertilizers, rubber – tires, batteries, and basic chemicals, while also assisting in the search and assessment of key input suppliers.
Second, promote investment connections and technology transfer, especially in pure chemicals, electronic chemicals, new materials, environmental technology, and circular economy—core fields in the Group’s green development strategy.

Additionally, Vinachem proposed increased support for legal frameworks, removing trade barriers, sharing market information, early warnings on policy and technical standards, carbon mechanisms, and trade defense—factors increasingly affecting the company’s exports.

Partnering with Businesses Amid Global Supply Chain Restructuring

In her remarks, Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs Nguyễn Minh Hằng acknowledged and highly appreciated Vinachem’s positive results, strong recovery, and clear progress in recent times. She emphasized that, amid global economic fluctuations, Vinachem’s ability to maintain growth, expand markets, and enhance competitiveness demonstrates its internal strength and the right strategic direction.

Likewise, Ambassadors and Heads of Vietnamese missions abroad affirmed their readiness to accompany and support businesses in implementing economic diplomacy, especially in market connection, information provision, and assistance in addressing issues arising in international cooperation.

They also noted that the current global supply chain restructuring presents great opportunities for Vietnamese enterprises, including Vinachem. The trend of international partners prioritizing countries with stable political environments, alongside rising demands on food security and essential supply chains, creates favorable conditions for Vietnam’s fertilizers, chemicals, and input materials to increase their presence internationally.

Maximizing the “Bridge” Role of Economic Diplomacy

The participation of Ambassadors and Heads of Vietnamese missions from regions such as South Asia, Southeast Asia, Northern Europe, Africa, the Middle East, and the Americas created a substantive forum for direct exchange between enterprises and the diplomatic system.

Through the program, the parties discussed market potentials, cooperation opportunities, and challenges in accessing international markets. The role of diplomatic missions extends beyond trade promotion to serving as information channels, risk warning systems, and protecting the legitimate interests of Vietnamese enterprises abroad.

Driving Momentum for a New Development Phase

The working session between Vinachem and the Ministry of Foreign Affairs was not only an information exchange but also a concrete step towards establishing a close and long-term coordination mechanism between enterprises and the diplomatic system.

As the country promotes deeper international integration, state-owned enterprises are required not only to operate efficiently but also to pioneer in expanding development space. With clear direction and the companionship of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Vinachem is well-positioned to realize its double-digit growth goals, enhance competitiveness, and affirm the position of Vietnam’s chemical industry on the global economic map.

It is evident that close linkage between businesses and economic diplomacy not only benefits Vinachem but also helps build an effective coordination model among the pillars of the state economy in this new stage of development.
