On April 23, 2026, in Hanoi, the Ministry of Finance of Vietnam, in coordination with the Ministry of Trade, Industry and Energy of Korea, held the Vietnam–Korea Economic Forum 2026, attracting more than 500 high-level delegates and business representatives from both countries.

The forum was chaired by Prime Minister Lê Minh Hưng and President Lee Jae Myung of Korea, under the theme “Enhancing Industrial, Investment, and Science & Technology Partnership”. This high-level event aims to connect policy with business, laying a foundation for substantive and in-depth cooperation in the new development phase.

Representing Vietnam National Chemical Group (Vinachem) at the forum was Mr. Phùng Quang Hiệp – Party Secretary and Chairman of the Board of Members.

Within the framework of the forum, the Chairman of Vinachem’s Board participated in a roundtable discussion and delivered a speech sharing the potential for cooperation between Vinachem and Korean enterprises.

Mr. Phùng Quang Hiệp stated that Vinachem is a 100% state-owned enterprise with nearly 20,000 staff and employees. Trade relations between Vinachem and Korean partners have remained stable, with total import-export turnover reaching around 100 million USD annually. Vinachem has prominent customers such as Samsung, Hyosung, LG, and the figures continue to grow each year.

Vinachem has established a sustainable cooperation platform through a joint venture with LG Chem since 1995. At the same time, following the Prime Minister's directives, the Group has researched and developed high-purity acid lines for Hyosung to serve the high-tech sector, initially achieving positive results. Notably, during Korea's urea shortage, Vinachem proactively supplied partners in a timely manner, contributing to environmental solutions.

In the coming period, Vinachem wishes to strengthen cooperation with Korean enterprises to share experience and develop strategic technologies, especially in the fields of high-purity chemicals for electronics – semiconductors, energy storage batteries, green transition, as well as to establish research and development centers and key laboratories.

The Vietnam–Korea Economic Forum was held in the context of ever-strengthening cooperation between the two countries after more than 30 years of diplomatic relations, with a focus on promoting collaboration in industry, investment, trade, and science and technology.
