Copper remains weak on lower global trend

NEWDELHI: Copper prices today weakened by Rs 2 per kg on the wholesale market hereon sustained selling by stockists in tandem with weakening globaltrends.

Trading sentiment remained bearish after copper fell for thesecond straight day in London after payroll data added to signs of fragileeconomic growth in the US, the world's second-biggest metaluser.

Meanwhile, copper for delivery in three months slipped by 0.4per cent to 7,370 dollar a metric tonne on the London MetalExchange.

In the national capital, copper wire scrap, copper wire barand copper mixed scrap shed Rs 2 each to Rs 369, Rs 388 and Rs 349 per kgrespectively.

Following were today's quotations in Rs per kg: Tiningot 795, zinc ingot 116.50, nickel plate (4x4) 875-989, gun metal scrap 226bell metal scrap 228, copper wire scrap 369, copper wire bar 388, copper mixedscrap 349.00, Utensil scrap 224, Chadripital 175.

Lead ingot 113.50,lead imported 116.50, aluminium ingots 100, sheet cutting 103, aluminium wirescrap 100 and aluminium utensils scrap 100.
