Japanese Aluminium shipments grew 11.4% in November

TOKYO (Commodity Online): Japanese Aluminium shipments have registered a YoY growth of 11.4% in November to touch 183,613 tons for the 12th straight month. Huge demand in the form of beverage cans had a significant impact on exports.

Also, compared to October, November shipments of Aluminium grew 4.9%, reported Reuters

Demands from China and Southeast Asia donned the driver’s seat in export shipments.

Compared to 2008, the November exports have surged 33% YoY in 2010 by a quantity of 23,504 tons. During that time, global economic downturn had taken its toll as automakers and other manufacturers cut output.

The backtracking of government subsidies for buying out of low-emission vehicles in September has made a dent in car sales even as demand from automobile industry for flat-rolled aluminium fell slightly in November.

Extruded aluminium is in demand from car industry and a YoY growth registered in November for the 13th month. The growth rate has however come down to single digit.

The yen pull back from 15 year highs has helped Japan to see overall export rise for the first time in November in nine months.
