Vinachem Expands Business Connections and Promotes Cooperation in India and Sri Lanka
From May 5 to May 9, 2026, within the framework of the State visit of General Secretary and President Tô Lâm to the Republic of India and the Democratic Socialist Republic of Sri Lanka, the delegation from the Vietnam National Chemical Group (Vinachem), led by General Director Nguyễn Hữu Tú, carried out a series of business networking, trade promotion, and technical cooperation activities in the fields of fertilizers, agricultural chemicals, and green chemicals.
The delegation included Mr. Nguyễn Văn Dũng – General Director of Hà Bắc Fertilizer and Chemical Joint Stock Company, Mr. Đỗ Văn Tuấn – General Director of Southern Fertilizer Joint Stock Company, as well as leaders from specialized departments.

Expanding Strategic Partnerships and Accessing Green Fertilizer–Chemical Models in India
In New Delhi, Vinachem held working sessions with many of India’s leading groups and enterprises in fertilizers, agricultural chemicals, and green energy. India, the world's fourth largest economy and most populous nation, is a comprehensive strategic partner of Vietnam and a promising market for the Group’s products, as well as for cooperation in investment, science and technology, and innovation.

With Indian Potash Limited (IPL)—a leading Indian importer and distributor of fertilizers (annual revenue over $3 billion)—the two sides discussed potential collaboration in potash, DAP, NPK, SOP, polyhalite, nitrates, SSP/TSP, and specialty fertilizers. IPL is one of only three companies licensed by the Indian government to import urea, underscoring its special role in the national fertilizer supply chain.
With Future Chem Agro—a prominent company in agricultural chemicals and environmentally friendly solutions—the parties explored cooperation in crop protection products, biological agents, plant growth regulators, and specialty fertilizers. Future Chem is also one of three companies licensed to import urea in India.
With IFFCO—a fertilizer cooperative system reaching over 55 million farmers—Vinachem studied their distribution model connected to farmers, technical services, and product demonstrations.
Of special note, in a meeting with ACME Group, General Director Nguyễn Hữu Tú explored large-scale battery energy storage systems (BESS)—solutions that optimize renewable energy for green hydrogen and green ammonia production. The integration of renewable energy, BESS, and green chemicals opens up new research directions for Vinachem in clean raw materials and emission-reduction technologies.
Indian partners highly appreciated the potential for cooperation with Vinachem in the context of surging demand for fertilizers, agricultural chemicals, and the shift toward green production.
While in New Delhi, the Vinachem delegation paid tribute to President Hồ Chí Minh by laying a wreath at his statue in G20 Park, New Delhi. In a solemn and respectful atmosphere, the delegation members expressed deep gratitude for President Hồ Chí Minh’s immense contributions—he was a national liberation hero and a world cultural figure. His life and revolutionary career were closely linked with Vietnam’s struggle for independence and contributed to the global movement for peace, independence, democracy, and social progress.

Statue of President Hồ Chí Minh in New Delhi, a work of special political and diplomatic significance, vividly symbolizes the close relationship between the leaders and peoples of the two countries, as well as the special affection of the Indian State and people for President Hồ Chí Minh in particular and Vietnam in general.
The statue was created by sculptor Ram V. Sutar, one of India’s leading sculptors, with extensive consultation and adjustments by relevant Vietnamese authorities. The statue faces towards Vietnam’s two major cities: Hanoi and Ho Chi Minh City.
Later, on the afternoon of May 7 (local time) in Mumbai (Maharashtra State), the Vinachem delegation attended the Vietnam-India Business Forum, co-organized by the Vietnam Chamber of Commerce and Industry (VCCI) and the Confederation of Indian Industry (CII).
The forum not only served as an information-sharing platform but also facilitated direct meetings among hundreds of businesses from both countries in sectors spanning information technology, chemicals, automotive manufacturing, pharmaceuticals, tourism, agriculture, investment, medical equipment, food processing, aviation, logistics, and electronics production.
As a leading state-owned enterprise in Vietnam’s chemical industry, Vinachem participated in the forum to seek cooperation opportunities and affirm its position on the regional economic map.
From Fertilizer Donations to Business Partnerships in Sri Lanka
On the morning of May 8, 2026, at the Presidential Palace of Sri Lanka (Colombo), a ceremonial handover of 100 tons of urea and superphosphate—gifts from the Party, State, and people of Vietnam to the Government and people of Sri Lanka—was solemnly held. The ceremony was attended by General Secretary and President Tô Lâm; Sri Lankan President Anura Kumara Dissanayaka; and high-level leaders of both countries.
Mr. Ngô Văn Tuấn, Member of the Party Central Committee and Minister of Finance, represented the Vietnamese government in presenting the symbolic plaque to the leadership of the Sri Lankan Ministry of Agriculture, Livestock, Land, and Irrigation. The ceremony was also attended by Mr. Nguyễn Hữu Tú, General Director of Vinachem.
Vinachem had the honor of being entrusted with the responsibility of directly preparing and transporting the gift to the Government and people of Sri Lanka, ensuring safety and timely delivery.
The 100 tons of fertilizer comprised urea produced by Hà Bắc Fertilizer and Chemical Joint Stock Company and superphosphate produced by Southern Fertilizer Joint Stock Company—outstanding products with stable quality and high efficiency for agricultural production.

This event demonstrates the trust of the Party and State in Vinachem as a core state-owned enterprise in the national chemical industry. Through this activity, Vinachem has actively contributed to the Party and State’s economic diplomacy, deepening the friendship and solidarity between Vietnam and Sri Lanka.
Continuing activities during the State visit to Sri Lanka, on the afternoon of May 8, 2026, in Colombo, the Vinachem delegation participated in the Vietnam–Sri Lanka Trade–Investment–Tourism Cooperation Forum. The event was attended and co-chaired by General Secretary and President Tô Lâm and Sri Lankan Prime Minister Harini Amarasuriya.
The Vietnam–Sri Lanka Business Forum attracted the participation of more than 300 leading enterprises from both countries across many fields.
At the forum, Vinachem introduced its production capacity, product ecosystem, and cooperation orientations in fertilizers, industrial chemicals, rubber–tires, and consumer goods to Sri Lankan partners. This was an important opportunity for Vinachem to seek distribution partners, expand markets, and strengthen bilateral economic cooperation.
The series of activities in India and Sri Lanka continues to open up many new avenues for trade, technical collaboration, green technology, and international market connectivity for the Vietnam National Chemical Group.
