On 25 September 2026, the Vietnam National Chemical Group (Vinachem) organised a training conference to enhance capacity in ensuring cyber safety and security during digital transformation in 2026. The event aimed to update knowledge, raise awareness, and improve the ability to respond to cyber safety and security risks during the Group’s transformation process and at its member units.

The conference was chaired by Mr. Đào Trọng Cường, Deputy General Director of the Group. Attendees included Mr. Nguyễn Văn Quý, Standing Deputy Secretary of the Party Committee; Mr. Nguyễn Tuấn Minh, Member of the Members’ Council; representatives of the Supervisory Board; representatives of the Vietnam Chemical Industry Trade Union; heads of specialised departments; leaders of member units; and officers responsible for digital transformation at member entities.

From the Department of Cybersecurity and High-Tech Crime Prevention (A05), Ministry of Public Security, Lieutenant Colonel Trần Việt Cường, Deputy Director in charge of the Training Centre, attended together with lecturers and cybersecurity experts.

Ensuring cyber safety and security: A vital requirement in digital transformation

In his opening speech, Deputy General Director Đào Trọng Cường emphasised that Vinachem has recently focused on implementing a variety of tasks, programmes and plans to drive digital transformation, aligning this with production, business activities, and management at the Group and its member units.

Alongside the transformation process, requirements for ensuring cyber safety and security have become increasingly important. Vinachem operates numerous industrial sites running data systems, central control systems and technological infrastructure supporting production management. As such, cyber safety and security not only concern data and IT systems but are intrinsically linked to production and business operations.

According to the Deputy General Director, risks such as intrusions and unauthorised control of plant systems could have significant impacts on operations. Therefore, the Group and its units must proactively identify, assess, prevent risks, and strengthen their capacity to respond to possible scenarios.

Mr. Đào Trọng Cường stated that the training programme was structured to blend theory and practical exercises, focusing on specific scenarios to enable participants to interact directly, handle situations, and draw lessons. He encouraged delegates to engage actively with the experts, raise practical issues and scenarios at their units for clarification, and study and apply the knowledge gained in practice.

Updating knowledge and hands-on response to cyber security incidents

At the conference, lecturers and experts from Department A05 delivered modules focusing on advanced topics in ensuring cyber safety and security.

The module on “Defence Architecture: Analysis of system protection architecture, critical assets, attack surfaces; multi-layered defence, Zero Trust, endpoint, network, cloud, application and data protection” provided delegates with a comprehensive approach to building system protection and identifying potential points of attack in the digital environment.

The module on “Risk Identification and Management” focused on identifying risks and attack paths; attack forms such as ransomware, account hijacking, data leakage; threats from the supply chain, cloud/API; and the use of advanced technologies. Experts also discussed methods for assessing and prioritising key risks.

The module on “Defensive Solutions and Response” covered vulnerability management, account and access control, monitoring, detection, alerting, data protection, backup, recovery, and organising incident response.

Notably, experts devoted time to hands-on guidance and case study analysis through a simulated comprehensive cyber attack scenario. Based on this hypothetical situation, delegates were guided through identifying attack signs, determining the cause and scope of impact, selecting response measures, and proposing ways to reinforce the system.

In addition to the technical content, the conference provided time for delegates to exchange and directly discuss with experts from Department A05, thereby clarifying practical issues in ensuring cyber safety and security at their organisations.

Speaking at the conference, Lieutenant Colonel Trần Việt Cường, Deputy Director in charge of the Training Centre, Department A05, stated that as digital transformation accelerates, ensuring cyber safety and security is facing new demands.

According to Lieutenant Colonel Trần Việt Cường, the Vietnam National Chemical Group is actively pursuing digital transformation, intensifying digitisation, building databases, and implementing numerous related tasks, achieving positive results.

However, the transformation process also brings about risks and challenges to cyber safety and security. Incidents such as cyber attacks, data encryption, and system intrusions could disrupt IT operations, affect the Group and its subsidiaries, and impact reputation, standing, and business operations.

Assessing the programme, Lieutenant Colonel Trần Việt Cường noted that Department A05 appreciated the interest shown by delegates through questions closely aligned with practical activities at the Group and its member units. He emphasised that the training does not end with the conference; if units require further discussion or support in ensuring cyber safety and security, Department A05 always stands ready to cooperate and assist.

Awarding certificates and implementing post-training tasks

Within the conference framework, participants who completed the training received Certificates of Enhanced Capacity in Ensuring Cyber Safety and Security in Digital Transformation, awarded by the National Cybersecurity Association.

The awarding of certificates recognises the participants’ engagement, learning, and completion of the programme, while encouraging IT and digital transformation officers to continue updating knowledge and strengthening professional skills to meet the demands of ensuring cyber safety and security during digital transformation.

In his closing speech, Deputy General Director Đào Trọng Cường evaluated that the conference implemented all planned content. The experts and speakers conveyed practical technical content, helping to improve awareness, skills, and the ability to identify and assess cyber safety and security issues for those managing and operating systems.

For future tasks, the Deputy General Director requested all units to review their systems, classify and determine the safety level of IT systems, and prepare proposals for classification in accordance with regulations and the realities of each system. At the same time, he urged further dissemination and raising of awareness among staff, especially those working in IT, system operation, and departments directly involved in production and business activities. Operations must be closely linked to requirements for ensuring cyber safety and security, providing timely advice to leadership in directing and managing tasks.

Regarding implementation of solutions and services for cyber safety and security, the Deputy General Director advised units to select organisations with sufficient capacity, experience, and regulatory compliance, licensed by competent authorities; and to coordinate with experts when preparing classification proposals to ensure compliance and suitability for actual operations.

Mr. Đào Trọng Cường also encouraged increased practical and hands-on content in future training programmes, thereby improving staff ability to handle real-world situations arising during system operation. In the coming period, the Group will continue to cooperate with experts and relevant entities to develop further training, specialised modules, and practical activities tailored to actual needs.

He sincerely thanked the experts, speakers, and delegates for their participation, constructive exchange, and adoption of practical knowledge at the conference. He also urged all units to continue implementing cyber safety and security tasks after the conference, integrating digital transformation with the requirements of cyber safety and security, thereby enhancing the effectiveness of management, system operation, and supporting the Group’s production and business activities.
