On December 5, 2025, in Hanoi, the Vietnam Institute of Industrial Chemistry (VIIC) held a Ceremony to celebrate its 70th Founding Anniversary.

The ceremony was attended by Mr. Phùng Quang Hiệp, Member of the Government Party Committee, Secretary of the Party Committee, and Chairman of the Board of Members(BOM); Mr. Nguyễn Hữu Tú, Deputy Secretary of the Party Committee, Member of the BOM, General Director and CEO of the Group; Mr. Nguyễn Huy Thông, President of the Vietnam Chemical Industry Trade Union; former leaders of the Ministry of Industry and Trade, leaders of the Vietnam National Chemical Group, and former leaders of VIIC and all staff and employees of the VIIC through different periods.

At the ceremony, delegates reviewed the Institute's tradition through each stage of development: The Vietnam Institute of Industrial Chemistry was formerly the Laboratory of the Indochina Mining Agency (established in 1955), later renamed the Institute of Industrial Chemistry. In 2007, the Institute transitioned to a public self-governing science-technology organization model under Decree 115/2005/ND-CP, taking the name Vietnam Institute of Industrial Chemistry.

In his speech at the ceremony, Mr. Hoàng Anh Tuấn, Director of the VIIC, emphasized that looking back at 70 years of establishment and growth, the Institute is always proud of the contributions of generations of staff who have diligently researched and overcome difficulties to affirm their core role in the chemical industry's science and technology. From research into basic chemicals, catalysts, organic-petrochemicals to environment, materials, fertilizers, etc., the Institute's results have practically served production, daily life, and the development of the sector.
The Institute has always maintained a tight link between research and deployment, accompanying businesses, and effectively implementing the "Three Houses" model (State/Policy, Scientist, and Enterprise). Consequently, self-governance capacity has been increasingly improved, revenue has grown steadily, and the livelihood of employees has been ensured.
Entering a new phase with many opportunities from major policies of the Party and State and the Group's orientation, the Institute focuses on developing green chemistry, clean technology, new materials; applying AI; strengthening international cooperation; building a strong team of experts; and promoting the commercialization of research results.
The 70th Anniversary is not only an occasion to express gratitude to the preceding generation but also a reminder of the responsibility to continue the tradition and ignite the aspiration for innovation. He expressed confidence that the Institute will continue to develop sustainably and modernly, contributing more to the chemical industry and the country.

Speaking at the Ceremony, Mr. Phùng Quang Hiệp – Member of the Government Party Committee, and Chairman of the BOM, emphasized that throughout the 70-year journey, generations of the Institute's staff have been deeply associated with the nation's development. During the war, the Institute researched and produced many important products, contributing directly to the victory in the cause of national defense. Stepping into peacetime, the Institute continued to develop many valuable products and scientific works, expanding research into new fields.
At the ceremony, he expressed pride in meeting the generations of staff who have created the tradition and the highly commendable achievements of the Institute over the past 70 years.
He noted that despite many difficulties in recent years, especially the requirement for financial self-reliance, the Institute has made efforts to mobilize internal resources and seek support from units within the Group to maintain research and the development of new products.
Regarding future tasks, he highly appreciated the seven key tasks outlined by the Director, considering them suitable orientations for the new context. The Institute needs to continue promoting its 70-year tradition while innovating its thinking, enhancing competitiveness, and elevating scientific research.

He stressed the requirement to strengthen cohesion within the Group's overall ecosystem. The Institute has strengths in research, and businesses have strengths in production and the market; without close coordination, information sharing, and cooperation in product deployment, research results will struggle to become practical reality. In areas such as resource exploration and processing, auxiliary products, new materials, etc., the Institute is fully capable of contributing more strongly, provided it selects the right key products, avoids spreading resources too thinly, and closely adheres to market needs and the Group's strategy.
He suggested that the Institute continue to complete its organizational model and management mechanisms; delve deeper into core technologies; and proactively coordinate with units within the Group to form a closed value chain from research - production - consumption. In a shared ecosystem, synchronized support and development are essential requirements to enhance value and competitiveness.
On the occasion of the 70th Anniversary, he extended his deep gratitude to all generations of the Institute's staff through the ages and wished the Institute continued development and greater contributions to the building and development of Vietnam's Chemical Industry.

Also at the Ceremony, the Vietnam Institute of Industrial Chemistry solemnly organized a program to honor and express gratitude to former leaders through different periods. This was an opportunity for the Institute to express profound thankfulness for the immense contributions of the preceding generations of leaders—those who laid the foundation, guided, and strategically oriented the Institute's development over the past 70 years. Their persistent dedication, passion, and wisdom are a crucial driving force for the current staff and employees to continue inheriting, promoting, and leading the Institute to continuously advance in the new phase.
