• Metals prices stronger on good volume

    Base metals prices on the London Metal Exchange are up by an average of 0.5% this morning, Tuesday July 25. Tin is once again bucking the trend with prices off 0.3% at $20,190 per tonne, while the rest have gains of between 0.3% for aluminium and 0.9% for nickel and copper, with the latter at $6,088 per tonne basis three months.

    Ethanol producers are watching the European Commission's decision on anti-dumping duties on Indonesian and Argentinian biodiesel imports into the EU closely as any reduction could make biodiesel more competitive against ethanol in Europe, market sources said.

    With ethylene prices near 15-month lows, buying interest began to pick up late last week as the market prepares for the upcoming wave of derivative startups, sources said. The startup of LyondellBasell subsidiary Equistar Chemicals' 1.134 million mt/year olefins unit in Corpus Christi, Texas, provided some downward pressure last week, sources said.

  • UAE's ADNOC cuts September crude oil allocations by 10%

    State-owned Abu Dhabi National Oil Co has cut its allocations for September-loading crude oil by 10% for the majority of its customers, a company spokesman said Tuesday.
