Deputy Prime Minister Tran Luu Quang suggested U.S. congressmen help urge the U.S. Government to soon recognize Viet Nam as a market economy.

Tran hosted a reception for a bipartisan U.S. congressional delegation led by Senator Kirsten Gillibrand, Chairwoman of the U.S. Senate Committee on Armed Services' Subcommittee on Emerging Threats and Capabilities in Ha Noi on March 27.

The Vietnamese leader expected that both nations will foster practical cooperation across all sectors commensurate with the Viet Nam-U.S. comprehensive strategic partnership, contributing to promoting Viet Nam's development process.

He called on the U.S. to remove Viet Nam from the list of countries subject to restricted cooperation in chips and semiconductors.

Kristen Gillibrand, for her part, hailed the two nations' upgrading ties to a comprehensive strategic partnership in September last year, which have created a foundation for the future of the bilateral relations.

The U.S. hopes to expand collaboration in all areas of economy, technology, energy and agriculture as well as new fronts such as artificial intelligence with Viet Nam, she shared./.   – Source: VGP
