HA NOI — Prime Minister Nguyen Tan Dung witnessed two co-operation agreements signed between Vietnamese groups and US partners yesterday while attending the Nuclear Security Summit in Washington.

The Viet Nam National Coal and Mineral Industries Group and CitiBank signed a contract on funding for the Lam Dong bauxite complex project in the Central Highlands of Viet Nam, while PetroVietnam signed a long-term co-operation contract with the GE Oil&Gas.

Also yesterday, Dung met with representatives of the US National Textile Association and garment importers. He thanked the association for its co-operation with the Viet Nam Textile and Garment Association, which had helped increase Vietnamese garment exports to the US market.

Dung said he hoped the US association could support Viet Nam against commercial barriers.

Dung said he welcomed US investment in Viet Nam and that the Vietnamese Government would create favourable conditions, especially in the areas of infrastructure and the administrative procedures, for US enterprises to work in Viet Nam.

Representatives of US enterprises confirmed their intention to invest in Viet Nam and asked for more flexible conditions in import and export.

A representative of the Target Group, one of the leading retailers, said the group wanted to import more products from Viet Nam.
