On the morning of December 12, 2025, Mr. Nguyễn Hữu Tú, General Director and CEO of the Vietnam Chemical Group (Vinachem), had a working session with the Vietnam Institute of Industrial Chemistry (VIIC) in Hanoi. Attending the session were Mr. Nguyễn Văn Luyện; Mr. Đào Trọng Cường– Deputy General Director of the Group; representatives from the Group's Board of Supervisors, the Vietnam Chemical Industry Trade Union; along with leaders of several specialized departments and relevant divisions of the Group; Dr. Hoàng Anh Tuấn – Director of the Institute, the Institute's Board of Directors, and representatives of its specialized units.

During the working session, General Director Nguyễn Hữu Tú and the delegation visited the Vietnam Institute of Industrial Chemistry. There, he acknowledged and highly appreciated the professional expertise, the modernly equipped laboratory system, as well as the proactive and creative spirit of the scientific staff in developing products and practical application technologies.

Leading domestic capacity in industrial chemical research and analysis

Currently, the Institute carries out diverse professional activities in the fields of scientific research, business production, postgraduate training, technology transfer, and technical services. The Institute's main functional groups include: researching and developing technologies in chemistry and environmental fields; scientific and technical consulting and services; pilot production cooperation – developing new products; training high-level scientific personnel; expertise, analysis, environmental assessment, and international cooperation.

The Institute currently has 05 functional departments under the professional management division and 15 specialized units under the research, development, and business service division, with a total of nearly 260 officials and employees. This includes 01 professor, 02 associate professors, 23 doctors (PhDs), and 55 masters, forming a strong scientific and technological human resource team capable of researching and implementing tasks from the grassroots to national levels, comprehensively meeting research, development, and technology transfer activities in the chemical field.

Throughout its operation, the Vietnam Institute of Industrial Chemistry and its scientists have been awarded many prestigious titles and awards. The Institute has been honored by the State with many noble Orders across different periods: Second-class Independence Order (2010), Third-class Independence Order (2005), First-class Labor Order (2000 & 2015), Second-class Labor Order (1995), Third-class Labor Order (1960 & 1990); and the State Award for Science and Technology. Prof. Dr. Vũ Thị Thu Hà, one of the Institute's prominent scientists, was awarded the Kovalevskaia Prize, recognizing outstanding achievements of female intellectuals in the natural sciences field. Furthermore, the Institute and its researchers have also been awarded the Vietnam Innovation Award for Science and Technology (Vifotec) multiple times for highly applicable projects, making practical contributions to production and daily life.

With modern laboratory capacity, a highly qualified staff, and an organizational model that integrates research – production – service, the Institute has great potential to become the nucleus of innovation, the technological and scientific locomotive for Vietnam's chemical industry during the green transition and sustainable development period.

In addition to research activities, the Institute provides reputable scientific and technological services, especially the Chemical and Material Testing Laboratory – VILAS 067, which currently leads the country in the analysis of lubricating greases, industrial fuels, and aviation fuels. Services such as environmental assessment, chemical safety consulting, product quality inspection... are also being expanded, making important contributions to the scientific brand of both the Institute and the Group.

Leveraging chemical industry knowledge, leading innovation

The Vietnam Institute of Industrial Chemistry enters 2026 with a new position and high expectations from the Group. The working session between Vinachem leadership and the Institute not only demonstrates deep concern but also affirms the shared determination in the orientation to develop the Institute into a key research – development center, playing a leading role in scientific and technological innovation for the entire chemical industry. Moreover, the Institute also aims to participate in policy and technical standard development and implement the Group's strategic tasks.

Building on a 70-year tradition, an accumulated knowledge foundation, and a team of highly qualified scientific staff, the Institute is expected to continue making strong breakthroughs, striving to become the nucleus of innovation, a strategic consulting center, and a science-technology policy planning hub for Vietnam's chemical industry. Not limited to a research role, the Institute will be a vital knowledge bridge, promoting internal cohesion among units within the Group through technology value chains. Knowledge and creativity – the core assets of the Institute – will become connecting links and a "soft armor" that protects and enhances the competitive capacity, shaping the future of sustainable development for the domestic chemical industry in the context of global integration and green transition.
